When I use my 820 I get all kinds of "extra" cycling dynamics information in Garmin Connect. When I select multi sport (bike and a run) on the Fenix 5X and I pull up the cycling portion it doesn't have all the cycling stuff the 820 gives me. Is the watch not recording the extra cycling dynamics? Does anyone know if it will in the future?
Hi There. Please make sure that your 5X is connected to your power meter (assuming Vectors) via ANT+. How do you tell? When pairing, the power meter entry that comes up with "BLE" in its name should be avoided. The other is the ANT+ connectivity, the one you need.
Thanks Antiloop, I had two listings in the watch for the Vector 3 , the first one did have the BLE in the name so I removed that one. The second entry just had "Vector 3 PWR" So tonight when I ride I'll be able to tell if that was the issue. Thanks for the help.
Thanks Antiloop for the fix. Worked great. Also thanks to Rob for the response. I forgot that BLE doesn't transmit the Cycling dynamics info. Thanks to DC Rainmaker's site I went back and read up on the BLE limitations.
On a side note, the Edge 820 makes an excellent external display during a tri. I had the 820 mounted on the bike and had it display what my watch was recording. This is going to be how I do things from now on unless I am just ridding for training or fun.
Hi Rob, Yes as I get to know the watch I am adding more and more of the functions the watch can do for me. That is exactly my next "task" is to get the remote display setup. I can't wait to see how that works. One step at a time!
