Training Status Gone

I noticed that over the past few days my training status has stopped recording. I have not changes my training but training status went from resting to no status. The watch is still recording intensity minutes and training effect but this does not appear to be shifting over to training status. I have also noticed that there is a discrepancy between calories burnt during activity and the active calories recorded throughout the day.
  • I have tried a reset and still not able to get training status to register. Last week I managed 972 intensity minutes, all activities were recored, including heart rate but still no training status and I also noticed that no training load is being recored. Any help or suggestions as to what might be going wrong would be most welcome.
  • Thanks for the reply. I have checked and made sure that all heart rate setting are the same. I have also made sure that I have the training effect switch on. I have a feeling that it could be the latest up date as I have had the watch for over a year and it is only since the last up date that there have been data problems.

I've same issue with F5X. Last training where I can see training load was recorded 10th of July. After that nothing. I'm running SW version 9.20 and I see older trainings where training load was recorded properly also with SW 9.20.

Hello. The same problem on my FR 935. Two days ago were both values for TE zero, yesterday TE did not shown.
  • I have not be able to find a fix, all the data is being recorded that is needed for Training Status, but I am not getting any Training Load recorded. I did send Garmin a ticket about 5 days ago, as yet no one has got back to me. One would think having spent such a large sum on money on a Fenix, things would be sorted out quicker, if it is a problem with 9.20. Or are Garmin to busy making money on the Fenix 5 Plus. Not sure how you can have a Plus when the original is not working the way it should do.

    Hi there,
I got fairly similar problems with my fenix 5: After the last update it stopped counting intensity minutes while race bike training, stopped calculating recovery time and a couple of other things. Do you have any idea what might help? Other than wait for Garmin to get their act together ... .
When first I got the fenix 5 it worked really well. But the last updates killed a couple of functions I really liked. If Polar would come up with a replacement for the V800 I would probably buy it and sell the F5. I am getting the impression Garmin is only interested in making money fast, customer support is a nightmare not to mention the updates.
  • It does feel like once a new iteration of a Fenix is released the order versions are left for dead. To give a watch only one years active life suggests Garmin still think their watches are throw aways, you can just get a new one when it comes along. I suspect Garmin are aware of the problem, just not will to acknowledge it. I have moved through Garmin watched from a Forerunner 10 to the Fenix 5. It does look like I might start to move away from the Garmin market place and look at other watches.

    Hi there,
I guess it is not possible to go back to a previous software version as it is not possible to sync new training sessions without a software update? I would gladly go back to the first version the F5 had when I got it. Or do you have any idea how this might work?

Polar will probably launch a V800 replacement in september or october. If it is any good I will quit training with Garmin. In the past I had a couple of Polar gadgets, Sigma Sport, Suuntos and now Garmin. In theory Garmin sounds great - until they start scewing up their software. Then the F5 becomes a rather pricy next to useless piece of plastic. Never had those issues with Polar or Suunto.
  • Just received the below from Garmin Support, as you can see if offers no help at all. [h=3]Why is my Training Status not updating on my device?[/h]
In most instances, the reason the Training Status on a compatible device is not updating is due to not meeting certain criteria during your recording activity. Training Status requires updated assessments of your fitness level, including at least two VO2 Max. measurements per week. Your VO2max measurement is not updated for runs or rides where your heart rate does not reach at least 70% of your maximum heart rate for several minutes. Furthermore, runs performed with the Trail Run profile or an indoor running activity profile do not generate a VO2max measurement. These restrictions are also in place to preserve the accuracy of your fitness level trend. [h=3]What can I do to consistently update the Training Status on my device?[/h]
To get the most out of the Training Status feature, you can try these tips:
    • For running activities, run outdoors at a heart rate higher than 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes, at least twice a week.
    • For bike rides, ride with heart rate and power at a heart rate higher than 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes, at least twice a week.
    • Record all your fitness activities on this device, allowing it to learn about your performance.

After using the device for one week, your training status should be available. By following the above tips on an ongoing basis you should consistently receive an updated training status.
