Golf app - Autoshot Game Analyzer

I have had the watch for over a year and I really think Garmin has done a poor job documenting what you can do with the watch and golf app. I just found out that if I track my score on my watch, I can analyze each shot (that autoshot records) I made on each hole. Garmin really should publish this clearly as it is a really nice feature.
  • I can't get either the manual Measure Shot or Autoshot functions to measure my tee shots. My driver swing speed is up over 100mph but they simply don't register unless I make contact with the ground. Have you had any issues with triggering shot measurements on the 5 plus?
  • Look at the following articles to see if they answer your questions about Autoshot and Measuring the Shot.

I have only used the Autoshot function for 2 rounds but it has registered all my shots including my driver. My swing speed is right around 98 - 100 mph. I have the 5S Sapphire edition.
  • I find the autoshot pretty useless, I enter my scoring manually- which is extremely easy (I never once imagined keeping score on a watch to be practical. the autoshot feature is pretty poor, Yesterday I played two balls for 9 holes and it confused the hell out of the garmin golf app.
One feature I'd love to see is how the Vivoactive 3 offers real time last shot distances in the upper portion of the screen and is always displayed, no need to navigate the menu, would like to see integrated to the F5, can't bee too hard given the rest of the app is very similar.

Garmin-Health I have to agree that the handling and instructions on the Garmin is very bad.
I changed from a Polar watch and the info and instructions they provide is very detailed compared to Garmin.
I was very disappointed and all my experience and instruction came from watching youtube videos and doing a google search rather than from Garmin itself.

My big question is why doesn't the Golf App talk to the Watch app or vice versa?
I have to either use the one or the other and then only have tracking/logging on one of them and not on my Connect page.
It would be great if it were all integrated.
And why doesn't handicap scoring work (net score for specific handicap)?

I am very disappointed in Garmin Golf in general and currently rather use a different app on my phone and just use Garmin watch for distances.

On my 5S, when I select Measure Shot and take a swing, the shot measurement only starts if I take a big divot. Driver shots off the tee never register for me. I honestly don't care about looking at a map of all of my shots after a round; as a golfer, it's critical for me to be able to measure shot distances and the 5 plus fails miserably at this basic task. Are you able to get Measure Shot to reliably work?

Your Measuring a Shot article is not accurate. After selecting Measure Shot, the watch prompts you to take a swing before measurement starts. This extra step is what's frustrating me right now as it simply doesn't work on tee shots. If Garmin removed the swing prompt and simply started shot measurement when you select the menu option, I would be very happy.

I emailed Garmin Support about this over a week ago and I have yet to receive a response.

I concur that a real time last shot distance would be great.

I found that most of my shots track but not all.
Driver I'd say 50% and then some of my recovery shots don't (typically can't take a practice shot because of hazard/tree/way ball lies etc so normally a half/quarter shot just to get back on fairway).

I have been using Golfpad for a really long time and Garmin can definitely have a look and learn from them.
Their shot tracking pods also don't cost $299.

In general I feel this is actually a larger concern than just F5 owners as my colleague also complained about his Vivoactive 3.
