Heart Rate Wrist

Hey guys new owner and I cannot get the Wrist HR to work? I updated the watch when I got it, about two hours ago. It updated the maps and then updated the firmware to 9.20. The green sensor lights never come on to measure my heart rate. I am coming from the VivoActive HR so I understand how to wear the watch etc. Are there any tips you guys can give me before I call Garmin when I get home? I did check the heart rate setting is on auto. I did cycle it to off and then back on and I have also turned off the watch and back on. Any help would be great.

Ok So I started an activity and it looks like it is grabbing my heart rate from the back sensors. So it seems the widget isn't working correctly? I changed the watch face to show the HR on it and it shows zero as well. Soooo not sure what is going on? I'm going running after work so will see if the HR is truly working or not. Do the newer sensor not blink with the green lights now? Again coming from the Vivoactive HR and they blinked all the time, it seemed.
Edit: Also not showing HR on the Garmin Connect Mobile either after sync.

Can someone just answer if their HR monitor lights up green while trying to take a measurement? If so I'm sure I have a bad unit and will need to send it back.
  • Assuming it has status set to auto it should be on all the time. However note that if you take it off your wrist the green light will switch off in couple of seconds. “Peek” under the watch while wearing it and you should see the lights. I don’t think there is a setting such as “during activities only”
  • Settings> Sensor & Accessories> Wrist Heart Rate> Status = Auto

Also, Settings> Activity Tracking> Activity Tracking = On
