Ability to automatically switch off radio emissions at night (bluetooth, wifi)

Hello there, and thanks in advance for your support. Since most of us are using the Fenix 5X to track their sleep activity as well, I thought it would be nice if the firmware allowed to automatically switch off all radio emissions at a certain time at night, like bluetooth or wifi, and automatically reactivate them in the morning at another certain time after waking up. At the moment what I'm doing is manually switching off bluetooth and wifi every night before going to sleep and then re-enable them manually after waking up, and I can confirm that's rather annoying. Think of it as a low-emission night mode of some sort. Would that be possible?
  • Wifi won't be active unless you manually start it, or you completed an activity and have wifi set for auto upload, and those are things that won't happen when you are asleep. For BT, you can easily turn that off on the watch if you want.

Thank you, that's what I'm doing every single night for bluetooth, I only wish the process could be automated, somehow.
  • I have found that on my FR935 leaving BT on if the phone is in the same room has no significant effect on the battery life, i.e. less than half a day difference across 2 weeks.. If the phone is kept in a different room and the watch disconnects, then all bets are off. I found it is important to make sure the two devices are kept close enough that they stay connected and the watch never has to go into searching mode. If I am going to be out of range of the phone for a while, I will turn off BT then turn turn it back on when I know the two devices are in range again. I had a similar experiences with my FR230. So no reason to think the F5x would fare much different.

Your mileage may very, but this is my experience.

Actually I wasn't really worrying about battery life at all, but my own health. I don't fancy having to sleep with my watch emitting radio signals near my head all night. There just hasn't been enough research on whether they could interfere with your health or not, and I'd love to refrain from taking too many radiations in the meanwhile.
  • I'm curious whether the Do Not Disturb mode, also turns off BT. I don't have that answer.
  • DND turns off the vibrations/ tones, but not BT. You'll get things like notifications, but without the vib/tone, and the watch will sync, update the weather, get FW updates, etc.
