Fenix 5X - 9.53 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5X users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Fenix 5X: http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...s.jsp?id=11665

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

9.53 Change Log Notes:
• Added GPS + GALILEO support (Activity Settings > GPS). (Requires GPS version 2.20)
• Added abnormal heart rate alerts. Enable these in Heart Rate widget > Heart Rate options > Abnormal HR alert. An abnormal heart rate will be detected if your heart rate exceeds the entered threshold for an extended period of time while sedentary.
• Fixed a bug causing Cadence values to be 'stuck' when not pedaling instead of returning to 0.
• Fixed a crash seen when viewing SwimRun activities.
• Fixed a crash sometimes encountered when selecting apps.
• Fixed a bug causing some activities performed on multiple devices to be double-counted when viewing Training Load on Physio TrueUp devices.
• Fixed a bug that could prevent the Fenix 5X from progressing past the initial screen when booting after a software update.
Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 series you have in the subject line.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.
• I'm intrigued. In the first 50% of your run, are you on the right or left of the road?

Both runs started with the part of the route that's further north and I ran south until I turned onto the tree-covered bike path. On the main road before the bike path I was running on the sidewalk on my left (your right looking at the map with north up). For the first 0.5 miles, with the exception of the line going over some houses at the beginning, the non-Galileo orange line is closer to the truth. Along the bike path they both wander quite a bit, but once again, non-Galileo recovers toward the end of that stretch. After the bike path Galileo actually does better until about the 2 mile mark. In the final 0.5 miles they diverge pretty widely, and the orange non-Galileo is closer to the mark, as I was running along the left side of the road heading west across the map.
• old problem i think has resurfaced for me.. after re-arranging the widgets (on watch OR Mobile app OR on Mac, they automatically get re-set to default order after sync.

email sent to garmin

Yes I've noticed this bug to.....
If you arrange them in GCM they will revert back to another order.....if you arrange them on the watch they stay as you want them....at least for me.... v9.20
• I don't think Galileo is the ticket to perfect tracks right now for a few reasons
1. not all the satellites are usable. the last 3 to launch are still commissioning.
2. The hardware hasn't dramatically improved
3. I suspect there is still software optimization to be done.

My experience in the two runs I've had it enabled is that the tracks are generally fine, but in reality they were fine using GPS+Glonass. I see nothing to really complain about either way. I do however have the advantage of running in New Mexico under generally wide open skies.

• The problem with altimeter is still present...
After swimming it is not possible to calibrate the altimeter normally... Te response is very, very slow and is useless for for another activity, for example for mountain biking...
Every time I have to reset my Fenix 5x watch. Very disappointing :(((

Same problem on my new Fenix 5 Plus! I sold Fenix 5X for this bug since it's here since months and i have reported to beta team many times!Try to report it to beta team... The problem is reported also in D2 forum and i have reported on Fenix 5 Plus forum too, so it is widespread! Now i'm in a return window with Fenix 5 Plus, i think i'll return it before it's too late this time i'll keep only my Spartan Ultra, it has less features but works almost flawless!

If I could return my Fenix 5x I would do it. Too many bugs, Fenix 5x plus is just a brother, same bugs most likely.
• Starting from 9.2 (same with 9.53) battery consumption increased twice. It was 10% per 24hrs (with out activities). Now became more than 25%.

If I manually will return to fw 8.0, using backup file from 9.1 beta, how will work GPS after upgrade to 2.2 from 9.53 beta?

Will this beta work on the tactix Charlie? Or do we need to wait until the final release?

Thanks
• I went back to just GPS only. Tracks are showing pretty bad with GPS+Galileo on rides here in North Florida. Distance I get from speed sensor so don't know if that would be different but is way off for tracks - showing me off the trail by quite a bit. Not seen them that bad, ever. Will try again in the future.
