F5 or F5 plus if buying now

If you where buying now what would you go for..

useing my discounts i can get an 5 plus for £540 or a f5 for £400 online.

one thing puttig me off the plus is the lower battery life of 6hrs in gps mode....

i had a 5 earlier in the year but returned it for a refund due to mainly the auto pause not working that well hiking seemed to not pickup that is started moving again..edge1000 also is the same so had to switch off auto pause...

same whist mountaing biking but only under tree cover where my edge 1000 was fine strangly under those circumstances..

So 5 or 5plus....mmm

Just focusing on the obvious additional features the 5 Plus has over the 5:
-The maps are definitely more useful/useable than I had expected them to be. For me, this is probably the biggest sell of the 5 Plus over the 5 for serious outdoor use.
-Garmin Pay works well (after following the 645 forum, I got a UK Starling bank account in readiness)
-Music copied across from my iTunes library works just fine with my inexpensive MPOW Flame BLE earphones from Amazon; with the audible lap times and instant pace audio alerts (set to every minute) being an unexpectedly useful addition for running; you don’t need to look down at the watch to know how fast you’re currently going, which is surprisingly nice.

Hi if you don't mind me asking where are you getting the watch with 10% discount? As far as I know no-one is discounting them? unless it's staff discount)

Hi..as a member of cycle uk i get a 10% to 15% discount in many uk cycling and outdoor gear stores

I think you will find Garmin have imposed very strict no discount policy on all resellers, regardless of what "club" you belong too, you won't get them discounted unless a retailer is going against their agreement with Garmin.

I am in the process of upgrading from F5 to F5 plus (waiting for post). For me F5 ANT+ sensor issue makes that model a no go, the other bells and whistles on the plus are nice to haves but not really a necessity in my case. Also the reduced battery life is something I have had concerns about.

But the ANT+ is the real killer. If you don't need a reliable ANT+ connection then go for the F5 it'll give you longer battery life and cost quite a bit less.

I bought my F5 right before the plus came out. I honestly would've liked the plus, but I have no discounts so I couldn't really afford to exchange it. I use pandora/spotify for most of my music also, so my playlist would've been pretty limited on the watch itself with what little music I actually own.

if you'll use the music and need the few added features arns Galileo, and you can afford it, i'd get the plus. I only do sprint tri's and stuff now, maybe some international distances next year, so it wasn't worth trying to find the extra cash for me.

Hi--Can you expand more on how you find the maps to be improved? This is what I am also most interested in. I have the 5X now. Which makes me ask this question....the 5/5S didn't come with maps so what are you comparing? Thanks for the feedback.

Never had one problem with Ant+ with my F5. Using cadence, speed, HRM Run4 and tempe sensors.
