My 5x had very slow maps just after upgrading to 9.20. I mean 5-6 seconds lag when entering maps. Restarts didn't solve this. But after few hours it… disappeared. Now it seems to be faster than it was. Something in the background? Post-upgrade processes? I don't know… Maybe you should wait few hours.

Please install a custom watch face like GearMin and see if there is any lag when moving to the next widget starting from that watch face.
I agree, i use only the GearMin face, after updating to 9.20, my 5X becomes my old 3HR ran with GearMin. I'm very disappointed and I want to go back to 8.00, How to do?
The only custom field/app I have loaded on my 5x is the GearMin face. My watch takes almost 5 seconds to do anything. The only thing not impacted is turning on the light.
As suggested by Subtleguru Ive switched over to using the 'WF f5 One' watch face, which has most fields I need and reduces the lag. Basically a work around.
I have installed the Forerunner 645 watchface for my Fenix 5x and yes, have a small lag of around 1 or 2 secs. but when navigating through the different widgets, there is no lag.
My watch automatically updated overnight and now I'm experiencing this as well. There is also an even longer lag if I press the start button to bring up the activity list to select an activity. It didn't do either of these things on the previous firmware.
