Hi,
I set the daily amount of calories I have to eat. Unfortunately, garmin adds all active calories to it, which puts my result in error. How can I turn it off so that these calories do not add up. I want counts down what I set in myfitness pal from the main setting. In myfitness pal, I unchecked add the calories from the activity. Please help :)

P.S. Sorry for my english :)

Are you saying that you don't want the calories you burned during an activity to be sent to MFP, or are you referring to the calorie adjustment that Garmin send to MFP?

If You dont want the added calories burned from Garmin just unconnect Garmin and myfitnespal. My settings in my fitnespal is the lowest sedentary and no workout and let Garmin watch provide the active added calories, if this is the best settings I dont know, but I think so.

I have MFP setup the same way. This way Garmin can adjust accordingly. I do have Negative Calorie Adjustments turned on for MFP just in case I have a lazy day and didn't even burn the 2100 calories MFP gave me for the day.

That said, Messner is correct. If you don't want Garmin adjusting your calories why do you even have them connected?
  • Same here. GC calories integrate very well into MFP and the extra calories credit is rather accurate for me. If you want fixed number of calories to eat no matter what then just disconnect MFP and Garmin.

My take again:). You want to have a fixed daily calorie goal, lets say 2000 calories and You see that You eat 2000 calories to compensate that could be your calorie need normal days but if You one day go with friends for a mtb tour in the hilly mountains for a hole day, Garmin watch may say that you burned 1500 active calories that would be like 2000 + 1500= 3500 calories burned that day but You have fixed goal at 2000 calories and eat 2000 calories and then your deficit will be around 1500 calories and with a such big deficit You will lose more muscle mass, be tired, hungry, it will not be so healthy. So if one want to lose fat and preserve muscle mass its better to just have at most a 500 cal deficit and You will have more strength and its healthier. The same with bulking, maybe a 250 cal surplus over the calorie You burned that day to maximaze muscle growth whitout adding som much fat. So if You bulking adding 250 cal + your fixed 2000 cal would be 2250 cal but it would not be bulking it would be cutting alot because You used 3500 calories that day. Muscle mass is the key to loose fat, so one will not want to loose muscle mass. So for me a fixed calorie intake will not make so much sense, due to the fact that my calorie needs could be as low as 1900 cal one lazy day and on a very active day it could be maybe 3500 cal and I compensate my food intake after that.
