Broadcast Heart Rate Hotkey bug between fenix 5x v8.0 and Edge 520 Plus v2.6

I've noticed that when I set my 5x hotkey for the down button to broadcast my Heart Rate, it does it successfully for a couple minutes, but then it stops. I have the Garmin Edge 520 Plus to receive the HR and it's on version 2.6. The watch will still be showing that it's broadcasting the HR, but the 520 Plus loses the connection and the little heart icon just blinks. However, if I manually go into the watch settings and broadcast the heart rate (not using the hotkey), then it stays broadcasting and there are no issues.

Has anyone else noticed this?
  • If you mirror the 5x screens using the latest beta FW to the 520 plus you won't need to broadcast it and can just use the Fenix to start the activity instead.

that is true, but I like to use a custom base map from trail forks so I can navigate on the 520 plus. It's also easier to hit the broadcast HR shortcut, and hit the start button on the edge, instead of going through the 5x menu options to turn on extended display. Now if they only allowed extended display to be a hotkey option...
  • I run activities on both the 5x and 520 when I am using the 520 navigation, which is brilliant for trailforks and navigation to start of course :) I just leave the 520 on mapscreen permanently and have the data fields i want to see on my watch for a quick glance at on my wrist when I am navigating.

I do find the wrist OHRM useless when on trails though so I invested in a HRM strap and paired it with the fenix and the 520 and have HR and cadence overlay on the map screen at the bottom.

That's a good work around. I may try that to see if it works for me.

Garmin-Heath: yes I will contact you with the bug. I'll test it out again tonight and make sure I can have a list of steps to reproduce the issue.
