Cant get into USB mode on my Mac

So I have me a shinny new 5X and it plays nice with my iPhone X...
However, my MacBook Air does not recognize the watch when I connect it. It charges the watch but the watch will no go shift into a mass storage device so I can add it to GC. It works fine with my Edge 820 and my F3HR. The F5X, on the other hand, does not want to play. I have restarted the watch and computer. I have tried different USB plugs.
The F5x is on version 8 so that is the latest software.

Any ideas?

sometimes, my MAC do that too.
I reboot it and it's fine after. Have you try?

More than once. I even verified the F5X is set to USB Mode is set to Mass Storage.

There are issues with some watches having connectivity issues. The watch will charge but not connect for 'data'. My first watch had it very bad and the second has it intermittent. Should be a long thread on it here. Try it on another pc to see it isn't an issue with that particular pc. Try giving the connectors on the watch a quick clean. If that doesn't work I would look at an exchange.

I was on the phone with tech support and we tried with my mac and my windows machine and nothing. We even tried forcing the watch into USB mode and nothing. We think it may be the charge cable so they are sending me a new one so we will see how that goes.

I tried with several cables and had the same issue with each before just getting a return. It seems a lot less prevalent with the new models (gold pins) so hopefully that'll fix it for you!

Had same issue. Tried everything. Multiple PCs, different cables, factory reset etc etc. Also had gold pins. Nothing worked. Garmin had to finally exchange it.
