I am looking to replace my Fenix 3 with 5x for the map capability. But I wonder if I should wait for the next model if its just right around the corner.
Also, I read about cracked oHR lens, is that an issue i should worry about?
I'm a Garmin user since Vivosmart and Fenix 3 and I think Garmin releases new Fenix'es every two year, around new year. So I think they'll relase a new Fenix model in start of 2019. Fenix 5X is a year old device and behind of newer watches with newer capabilities. It doesn't have NFC payment feature, music support etc. These are candidate features for new Fenix models. I advise you to continue with your Fenix 3 until next February. Then you'll decide to buy Fenix 6X or Fenix 5X. At least Fenix 5X will be cheaper at that time.
Here in Sweden list price from Garmin is about 800 dollars for the 5X that is about the same for the new Tactix Charlie but for the one year old 5x in stores they go for about 600 dollars so the 5X is already cheaper by 200 dollars compared to list price. When the 6X comes probably in 2019 it might go for 800-900 in list price? and in stores?? and if they ad NFC payment feature, music support it does not have anything to do with sports or fitness or health, I will not upgrade at al, for me totally pointless features, but will it include new useful health, sport, fitness features I might upgrade. Life is to short, here at least the 5X is about 200 dollars less than list price. I would buy the 5X now, but thats me:) I do hope they dont ruin the masculine awesome design of the 5X, the 5X looks awesome
