Messaging replies

Hi all, today I ditched the Vivoactive 3 and upgraded to a Fenix 5, loving the watch baring one omission, text message quick replies, or lack of, I found this feature really useful on the VA3 but already missing it on the Fenix, anyone know if there are any plans to enable this feature?
TIA
  • Picked up a Fenix 5x Plus a few days ago, really good smartwatch with lots of useful features. I am pretty sure there was an option when I was setting up the watch to select/customize text message replies; the Garmin instructions also allude to being able to customize text message replies using Garmin Connect Mobile. Now, a few days in, I can't find anything on the watch, Garmin Connect Mobile, Garmin Express about customizing/selecting text message replies. It is possible to send a reply with the few canned text messages on the watch but that's it. Am I missing something or did the feature disappear in some "update" subsequent to my initial watch set up? Very frustrating and making me think maybe I really am losing my mind!

I've actually just posted in the connect feature request to have the option of editing the canned messages as per the Vivoactive 3.
  • Dumb question. Where can I find the canned messages and how to use them in FW10.0 ?

Thank you. I thought it would have been more "sophisticated" ;)

On the Vivoactive 3 there is an option within the connect app to create/edit and rearrange the order of the replies, hoping it comes to the F5 soon.
  • Where is this option located at?

I was located in the in phone notifications on my VA3 but the reply and edit replies tabs simple vanished from the connect android app the moment I replaced the VA3 with an F5 and synced it

I've found the option to reply to messages on my F5, but when I hit the reply button it just goes straight back to the watchface....

Does anyone else have this problem? I thought maybe I have to set up some default replies in GC but I cant see an option to do that?

Same here. But it seems that while on my F5 it goes back to the watchface, it opens my phone's messaging app. For the VA3, when you select reply you are presented with the canned messages that you set up through Garmin Connect Mobile app. On my GCM app there is no such setting. So I am assuming that while SW update 10.00 gave the watch the capability to respond via canned messages, these messages are housed in the phone's SW....namely the GCM app. To me, this means that F5 users are stuck waiting for an updated Garmin Connect Mobile app.

    Is this logic sound?

When I changed from VA3 to F5 there were no software changes to the mobile app, the feature for replies simply vanished so it would appear the app covers a broad range of Garmin watches and hides features not compatible with your device once synced.
