Question to Garmin Staff. After this update free space on my F5X dropped from almost 6gb to 1gb. Is it normal? Now there is no place for another maps, that I use. This files are still in my device (D4713060C.img and D6019000A.img) Are they required or just the temps that should be removed after succesful update?

I had the same issue. Some "admin" in the forum told me to contact the support. Because of storage issue I decided to use an open street map with elevation lines instead Garmin map. Due to elevation lines it seems a better choice up to now...

So my question is, am I missing anything important by not installing this 2018.10 map update? I don't use the watch for cycling, but do for running (road and trail). Garmin Express is telling me I don't have enough space for the update, presumably because I installed some OSM maps when I got the watch. If Garmin are going to sort this out, should I just sit it out rather than messing with maps I have that currently work for me/my use?
  • Hello to everybody.

Anybody knows if Garmin will cope with this unfortunate update. I'm using OSM maps additionally, therefore there ist not enough space for 8GB cycling maps update... I'm really confused right now
  • Remove those OSM maps temporarily from watch. Load Cycling maps to watch. Remove the one you don't need depending where you live. Keep either South west or north east map, you don't need both. That will free enough space to load back your OSM maps to watch.
  • As jarivee said.....
Due to the storage problem.....I deleted all Garmin maps...and associated files,( under the instruction of product support) Then loaded the new maps...then took off the east Europe map ( I don't need it)( just delete the side of Europe you don't need) that gave me 2.7gig left for other maps.
I did this months ago....its the only option under these circumstances Ive found.
