Question to Garmin Staff. After this update free space on my F5X dropped from almost 6gb to 1gb. Is it normal? Now there is no place for another maps, that I use. This files are still in my device (D4713060C.img and D6019000A.img) Are they required or just the temps that should be removed after succesful update?
How can I update to 2018.10? When connecting the 5x to Garmin Express all maps are shown except OPEN CYCLE MAP!?!?! 16.2 can be found on watch directly but it is not listed on Garmin Express!?!?!
I have also Garmin Cycle Map EU 2016.20 on the watch but no update offered in Garmin Express. I bought the watch in May 2018. Is it possible we are not eligible for the update because something like 1 year free update period expired? What is the update policy for preinstalled Garmin maps on the watch?
Is there any explanation why 2018.10 map is so huge (8.27GB) vs older map, 2.5 times larger? So it's not a bug but intentionally so big and I'm not supposed to install anything else than that? Also I'm supposed manually remove current maps before installing to get room, really?
Yes, having compared both, there is a much more comprehensive data set in the new maps, even mapping single track trails and footpaths for mountain bike routing.
I for one am delighted having extensively tested the new mapping for mountain bike routing. I am finding trails in my local area that I had no idea existed previously.
