Proximity alert with a group of POI

Hi all,

It is possible to set a proximity alert with 1 poi in the Fenix 5x, but it is too long and impractical to do that with a group of 10 ou 50 POI along a trail.

I can't find an option to set a proximity alarm with a group of POI.

With an older Fenix I just had to enter the distance to trigger the alert in Base Camp, with multiple POI selected.

How can I do that with a Fenix 5x?

Thanks.
  • I haven't done this but wouldn't creating a route connecting all your waypoints (POI) achieve the same thing - an alert as you arrive at each point?

Hi Subtleguru thanks for your answer.

Your are right, that's a way to do it if the POI are on the trail.

However, if the waypoints are not on the trail but close to (for example an historical monument, off-road) it is impossible to connect these waypoints and create a route because you will pass next to them, not on that road...

It was easy to do in BaseCamp with older models. I don't know how to do it with the Fenix 5x and this expensive watch is pretty useless for me right now -_- The cartography is great but most of the functions I need are impossible to set up. And Garmin customer service does not answer.
  • Due to the Fitness integration, Proximity alerts need to be setup via the fenix 5’s alerts.

Settings -> Activities & Apps -> (Activity Type) -> Activity Settings -> Alerts -> Add New -> Proximity

Thanks Garmin-Heath but then you have to addeach point, one by one. It is impossible to do with 20 or 50 points.

I want to select multiple waypoints, not just one...

It was possible with an old model in Basecamp, in a matter of seconds. I can't find a function to quickly assign an alarm toa group of POI with my new Fenix 5x...

So it is impossible to do with the Fenix 5 :(

Really annoying when functions are removed in a new model... It worked before on an older and less expensive model.
