Fenix 5X Battery life

Hi, I have no doubt this has been spoken to some degree but as a non forum user any assistance would be hugely appreciated. I have just finished a 100k trail run and was expecting battery life to last around 15hrs at least but it stopped at 11.5hrs. I had GPS only, backlight down to 5%, ANT connected to Tempe, and was following a course loaded onto watch. Any ideas as to why battery life didnt last? I can forgo the Tempe but believe ANT utilizes a tiny amount of power, perhaps the course use and positioning on it with ETA, ETE etc etc uses up life? Please assist as the intention was to charge up at one of the checkpoints where a personal bag was with power bank in but ran out before that point and then the charge was from zero only allowing another 2 hours of life. (didnt stay long at checkpoint and only charged up to 40% then left) thanks
  • Was you running with the watch showing the map? That'll drain it much quicker. Best to swap to another data screen and only flip to maps when needed.
  • I ran 85Km at the weekend and the watch used 55% battery over 11:33. No map or nav and Bluetooth off. Also GPS only and smart recording. I made sure the watch was left on charge for a good 4-5 hours after it hit 100% charge prior to the run. Seems ok.

Yes I was, thanks will try that to see if that has a big impact
  • it does actually, this is my experience too. On maps screen it continuously redrawing the screen and I think it hasmuch higher demand on processor and thus battery too.
  • For sure it will have an impact - I think you'll be pleased.

I use GPS only, 1 second recording, I switch off notifications during activity, backlight is only on after dark, I do live track and have audio prompts enabled per mile. I connect the HR, Speed and Cadence sensors. Occasionally on the trail I'll switch to the map data screen but otherwise I use a four pane screen of info like avg speed, distance, etc, and there is stays until I finish. I get around 5 percent an hour drainage - which is pretty much on the money.
