If you want to use this for mapping and navigation, stay with the Epix. I recently upgraded to the fenix 5X. I took it back the next day for a full refund. It does not have the same mapping and navigation as the epix. The main issue is that with the Epix, as with the garmin hand held GPS devices, you can have multiple tracks/courses display on the map. This is handy if you have multiple options you wish to look at while hiking. You can display a track without having to "Navigate it".
On the 5X you can only see a track by navigating it. And it rebooted during the first track i tested.
Putting down a thousand bucks (Kiwi) to get an inferior device did not work for me. So back to the Epix which is great.
