Error Syncing in Mobile App causes HR Data loss for activity, sleep and time since last sync

During 2 days (out of many w/o issue), I have synced using the mobile app (w10m) after doing an activity. Both times had OK cell reception but got an error both days syncing. Re try and all syncs, except the HR data or sleep data. Now I do see the HR data in my activities but under Health Stats, no sleep or HR data is available for that time since last sync. I have all sleep data for every day for the last week + so something is getting dropped during sync. I was assuming if I had a flaky cell connection and got the error, that may be the issue but it's just the above data and only how it's displayed in GC, since my activity data is in tact including HR. Wondering how common this is and if I need to just make sure I have a solid connection?
  • As a comparison and an update today I synced with mobile connect but over wifi. This means I should be guaranteed a fast and clean sync. Not. The app attempted sync 4 times but failed. 5th time it synced. All heart rate data and sleep is intact though.
  • johnrg56 Your internet connection is important when uploading activities via the app, but you need factor in Bluetooth too. Bluetooth transfer rates are very slow.

About your Heart Rate data not showing up in your activity, we have not seen a transfer rate cause that. Have you tried uploading your activities via Garmin Express? When you do that, does your heart rate data show up than in your activity?

The activity preserves the data but just the display in GC of that same data is lost/not showing on other reports. In my first post the images show the activity but no HR showing in a report. The second image shows my HR for that activity to show that it was recorded and uploaded. I used wifi early on and assume it would be more reliable but had issues using wifi and then using mobile when in the field. Each time I would use bluetooth the wifi setup was corrupted later in the day requiring deleting the device and re-adding it. I contacted Garmin and they are working on it. They said much lower battery drain using the phone and bluetooth for syncs than leaving wifi on the Fenix, so sticking with phone/bluetooth.
  • Same issue regarding uploads. This time a blue sync bar followed by a a green and no error. But an issue. While activity preserved all data including heart rate, Daily Summary on GC had lost the HR data on sync or not processed. I did sync in the morning so captured sleep time but later sync after activity shows the issue. A side effect is that step data also was lost on the first update. Once home and a second update, Step data was updated and appears the right cumulative data but HR still shows a gap.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1343845.jpg
