Hi, since some time, no tracks has turn-by-turn notifications, even the tracks, who previously had (actually all had, except the ones run in the opposite directions). Now I am seeing only kms to finish...
Same problem for me. Happy to see I'm not the only one and that I've no hallucination. It was working previously with the same track;)
Tbt no more working on Fenix 5X with "follow course" option which is the one I want to use based on my activity type. My tracks were built on Garmin connect website then sent with Garmin connect from my iPhone to the watch. App on the Phone and on the watch are the last available (not the beta for the watch = > v8.0).
In the meantime you can test plotaroute. If you draw a new route with follow road/path option, you get auto generated tbt. Plotaroute call that directions and you can then remove the ones you don't want.
It now have a fit file export that can be used easily together with the CIQ app Gimporter to get a all mobile upload to the watch.
Thanks Crispin_Ellisdon and razmichael. This led to the discovery of all sorts of new ways to use the app. Now I can take GPX files I have stored on Google Drive and transfer them through my iPhone to my Fenix in the field. This makes the Fenix much more usable.
Using the following setting: Routing --> Courses --> Use Maps seems to solve the problem.
However, the watch calculates the route for a very long time (between 5-10 minutes in some cases) before being ready to give tbt indication. Am I the only one to experience this "Calculating" screen that lasts forever ?
This is extremely annoying when it is cold and raining outside, like today in Michigan. Please Garmin, bring us back the flawless tbt mode that we used to have before 8.0.
Calculation could take 15-20 mins. I don't know why. And why is there no progress bar. Why isn't it possible to set calculated route to fix. Than all the TBT would work with street names, but it would't always recalculate the route. Garmin released a great watch with navigation and maps, but in reality it does not work well. With a few software tweaks it would be perfect.
I have some software problems with my watch. Garmin 5x supposed to be a great navigation watch. But there are a few problems:
- When using "follow course" there is no turn by turn navigation even with Garmin Connect courses. It used to work before! - Why is it not possible that when using "follow course", the turn by turn navigation would use the map on the device!? - When using "use map" calculation of the route could take 15-20 minutes, and there is no progress bar, so I don't know the state of the calculation - When using "use map" turn by turn navigation works great, but if I leave the route, it recalculates, and sometimes when for example I have calculated a 70 km bike course. After recalculation it cuts off my route (uses the shortest route, not the planned route). There is no possibility to add "pins" inside my route, so no matter what it would take me through this point. - It is not possible to turn off turn by turn navigation (sometimes it would be useful)
Many other people has adressed these problems, there are also forum topics about this issue. Please make some changes so it would work as it supposed to!
I got a response for Garmin, that the "use map" setting is the official solution to the problem... I don't get it, it worked so well before and now it was broken....
