Hi, since some time, no tracks has turn-by-turn notifications, even the tracks, who previously had (actually all had, except the ones run in the opposite directions). Now I am seeing only kms to finish...
One problem is that I hate garmin connect route planning. Strava is so much better. And there is an app called "strava routes", with which you can import routes in seconds. I know, that this is possible to put strava routes into garmin connect, but it is so complicated. I don't understand, why garmin just won't enable gpx route upload to garmin connect.
I don't understand, why garmin just won't enable gpx route upload to garmin connect.
But you can upload GPX to Garmin Connect! Just go to the courses section and click on the import button as I highlight in the screenshot below. It works a treat and means I can create courses using the ViewRanger app on my iPad, export the GPX from ViewRanger to my iCloud files, then import to Garmin Connect courses using the Import function.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1331237.jpg
To add to the info from Crispin (and based on the same capability), DCR posted a short article a while back on how you can now upload courses made on your phone. I won't repeat what he describes - just note that this is now possible because GCM will now be listed in the apps that you can "Send to". DCR noted one app that works well to make your route and then quickly open the GPX in GCM. Doesn't work with the FIT export. I've used this method a number of times sitting in my car at a trail head realizing I did not have a route.
Yes, it's really easy to download a route from any site in gpx format to mobile and load it into watch with GC app. Just tested again from dynamic.watch and gpsies, but what I also see as other say, is that the autogeneration of tbt doesn't work anymore. I don't think that is a watch problem. The generation of tbt is done in GC.
That do not mean that tbt do not work in watch. If you load a fit file with tbt/course points to the watch, tbt works perfectly.
Thanks I will try it out. But I have tested GC made route yesterday and it did not generate TBT. It used to work with F3. Do you think that this is a GC problem, not watch. How is it possible to contact Garmin regarding this problem? It would be great to use real TBT without worrying it will reroute (use map), and course calculation takes a lot of time.
Hi, Same problem for me with my Fenix 5X for a few days. In February I loaded a course with GC in my 5X and the TbT worked very well. Last Saturday I tried to load another route and the TBT no longer works. All these courses have been done with Openrunner and the same creative process. I think I can say that this is not a problem with the watch because with the course created in February the TbT were still working last Saturday while the new routes no longer gave the TbT, and OpenRunner has not changed its process of GPX creation. So I think something has changed in GC in its handling of GPXs or sending them to the watch. I also tried creating courses with GC or BaseCamp, and it's the same thing, impossible to have the TbT. I hope that Garmin will consider this problem and will be able to find a solution quickly
I have also registered a ticket, and actually got a response with video explaining how it should work. I responded to them, as I understand the idea and it doesn't work. I believe, it may be a simple check, whether the issue is Fenix 5X, Fenix5 or Garmin Connect issue - if you know someone with Fenix 3, you may ask if they experience the same issue.
I also contacted product support Uk time 09.30 today by phone.
What I was told.....
The 5x has software problems at the moment, which are being rectified. This particular bug has now been escalated....due to more people contacting them. :--) They said this is now being taken very seriously, as navigation is a core feature of the 5x, and there will be a software update in the future, no time scale yet, but the right people in the right department are now fully aware. Fingers crossed it won't be long.
:::::::::::::::: Also mentioned it could be GC related as said in other posts...
So I've also linked this thread in the GC trouble shooting section of the forum.
