Why OHR has to be activated in order to get sleep data from Fenix5?

Before GarminConnectAndroid version 4.3 sleep data was fully recorded regardless wether OHR was on or off. Now you get only sleep starting and ending times if OHR is not activated. Why is that? Have others experienced the same?

Yes it's the same for me ! I don't want and need OHR which doesn't work too well anyway but I miss the sleep data.

So, I woke up today and sleep did not record for the first time I can remember. I had not updated anything. Today Garmin servers are down and still no sleep data....is this a new issue? I tried to update today but with Garmin down, it obviously did not work. Thanks!

I'm curious too about the need of ohr for sleep tracking since it's not used, only movement AFAIK

That's what I was thinking too. AFAIK there should be no reason for extra battery draining by activating ohr which isn't necessary?.
