We all know that if we are already recording a 'Walk' like activity, having the 'Steps' field available to view during activity and/or afterward in Connect is not fundamental to evaluate the effect of the training. Also did a search on the forum/internet and this topic has been already discussed in the past (e.g. Fenix 3 forum).
What I do not understand is why Garmin developers have not enabled users of Fenix watch line to add the field to the activities, at least to have fun reviewing the data in walk/run/hike/golf/... activities. It seems to be available in Vivoactive watch line -I do not have access to one in order to check this-.
Perhaps steps counting is a software routine that runs isolated from the rest of the watch logic and hence may be counting steps in activities where it may not make sense (e.g. cycling, swimming), but that should be easy to bypass for Garmin developers (e.g. only allow the field to be added to the activities that make sense).
What do you think?. Anyone knows?.
Best regards!.
