3rd Party Straps (bin not bolt type)

Hi as above I have tested a number of genuine Garmin and 3rd party Quickfit straps for the F5 and always go back to the forerunner 935 non Quickfit strap as it uses the standard pin buckle clasp so doesn't dig in to my wrist.

I managed to find one on eBay which used a pin clasp but unfortunately the quick fit mechanism felt very unsafe so I returned it.

Just wondering if anyone has found a 3rd party quick fit band on eBay etc that uses a pin not allen bolt clasp and works well?

Interested in silicone only at the moment.

Thanks

  • I've had 3 third party silicone straps, along with 2 Garmin ones (plus a Garmin leather and a Garmin metal bands).
The third party ones with the pin clasp work fine, but are made of less durable material than the Garmin ones.
While my Garmin straps are still fine I have only one of the third party straps left. On one the notches wore through and broke and on the other the quick-fit mechanism was a poor imitation of the real thing and it starting detaching from the watch while exercising.
The last one is still fine, but it's worth bearing in mind that over the course of almost a year and with 6 bands to rotate through that I've had 2/3 third party bands fail. It's not like I was wearing them everyday and they still didn't last all that long.

I wouldn't trust wearing the third party ones in any situation where you might lose your watch if it comes off (swimming, mountain biking etc.)
Otherwise the third party ones are fine and they are dirt cheap. But keep that Garmin strap handy for when you want to be sure you won't lose your watch doing an activity.
