Temperature (internal sensor) 1 degree too low: Calibration possible?

I had the same problem with my 5X! I replaced it because, expecially for swimming, 1 or 2 degrees are too much! It's a pity that developers don't want to implement this capability.

I don't understand. For me the temperature sensor is useless except for autocalibration of the altimeter because, on a wrist worn device, it will always be influenced by the body temp of the wearer.For example, I start a run at 29° and will end it at 15° when it's cold outside. How can that relate to being 1° too low?

It only works goog when it´s not worn on a wrist - or in water when swimming (very important for me!). But then it should show the correct temperature - and not 1 degree too low.

The temperature sensor was only ever intended by Garmin to be used for the altimeter.
They then thought it would be a nice idea to expose the temperature measurements to users but it was never designed for the level of accuracy you seem to be after.

Which does make me curious - why do you need it to be so accurate? What difference does 1 deg make in practical purposes?

Well - technically, between 0° C and -1 °C you might encounter significantly increased resistance in water when swimming - so you do have a point there :):cool:

It has nothing to do with fitness - I just want to know the nearly exact temperature when swimming.

Well, then I guess the F5 is not the right device for this kind of application. Beyond the inherent sensor inaccuracy the temperature reading can be affected by a combination of the following factors:
1. Heating by body.
2. Heating by the device's internal electronics (the CPU does heat up slightly when operating in GPS activity tracking mode).
3. Air temperature when frequently taking the device out of water (for example while swimming freestyle).
4. Significant sensor inertia, meaning it takes at least several minutes for the sensor to adapt to changes in temperature.
