While navigating a course today my watch's display kept freezing and not updating. The watch kept functioning but the display would not update and I could not change data screens. The only time it would update the display (ie total distance, etc) is when the watch auto paused or the 5 mile auto lap kicked in. Otherwise it kept freezing. I then stopped the course and the watch started behaving. This never happened to me prior to 8.0 and I navigate courses often. Garmin, please fix, and please don't go backwards, all was fine for me until 8.0.
I suppose it might be related to 8.0 but haven’t seen any other reports of this. Way back I had a corrupted course file that caused similar issues. As this is a user forum, not specifically a Garmin support forum, I suggest you contact them directly. I’m sure the first thing they will say is do a master reset.
This was a course I have done before except this time I did it in reverse. So, this to the watch was sort of off course and I believe it was the fact that I was off course that kept the watch in a state of confusion which essentially froze out any display updates. I know that prior to 8.0 I was off course many times but never with this consequence.
