Decided to start using this footpod on the treadmill and outside for pace only (distance doesn't work anyway with F5/935, maybe a BT issue). I have set the CF to 106 and this was pretty spot on for my first treadmill run. I then ran the Milestone app and saw it had clocked half a mile less than my actual run, so I calibrated this and it adjusted the parameters - not sure how this affects the pod or my F5 tbh.
So on my next run (still set to CF 106), but the pace was a bit off (30 seconds per mile quicker). I saved (didn't calibrate and save) on the F5 and changed the distance in GC afterwards.
Can anyone confirm if I should only use the app for calibration (per the 5k runner's quote below) and leave Garmin's cal factor as 100 or not use the app at all and keep to 106. Also, should I leave auto calibration on/off if I only intend to use the pod for pace outside, not distance?
Finally - saving and calibrating at the end of a run; would this have any affect on the pod or only for the arm swing gyro sensor on the F5?
"Calibration is done on the app and the calibration value is then saved to the POD. Thus, when used on a sports watch, no calibration is required and any calibration factor on the watch should be set to 1.000 .To calibrate, you run a known distance and then enter the ‘correct’ distance in the app against the recorded distance. It’s probably best to repeat this a few times and varying speeds."
Thanks,
