Polar H10 HR readings in GCM

I have Polar H10 and Fenix 5S. The connection between then is stabme but let us assume I would want to wear the watch and the H10 for a workout (with watch HR disabled), saving HR data to H10 (it allows to save 1 session).

When I finish the session, how can I integrate the HR data downloaded from H10 into GCM? I have not tried this yet. Or can I pair the watch and H10 right after the workout and later pair the 5S with GCM and it will have integrated the HR data already from H10
  • lk130 Not 100% sure what you mean - if you pair the H10 with your 5S and ensure it is connected (solid heart symbol) when you start your workout then the 5S should collect the data from the H10 and pass it to Garmin Connect when you sync along with the other workout data from the watch. This assumes that the H10 pairs successfully

If the watch hasn't picked up the H10 during the workout then integrating the data afterwards is most likely impossible (that's assuming that the H10 even retains it)

Read again - I outlined a situation where I would be using the watch on my wrist (but with wrist HR sensor turned OFF) and, at the same time, Polar H10 WITHIUT having paired these 2 devices (again - the H10 allows to store 1 workout session data for downloading it later). When I finish such a workout, I get the data I need from the watch (let's say the GPS data, temperature, elevation) and I would also want the HR readings from the H10 - would it be easy to get them combined/integrated on Garmin Connect Mobile with the data from the watch? Or is it at all possible to ''construct'' a workout session data set from these 2 devices in GCM?
  • lk130 I've already answered that at the end of my reply and the answer is no - but I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to pair them unless this is a swimming activity where you won't have a connection whilst swimming

Yes, I missed the ending the first time I read your reply. And why this part "that's assuming that the H10 even retains it"? It have not had any trouble with saving a workout session to it.
    Anyhow, thanks for the reply.
I generally have not had any issues keeping a stable connection between these 2 devices, but was still eager to find out fi such a scenario would be possible (combining Polar HR readings with watch data in GCM).

    Thanks!
  • While a number of manufacturers offer store-and-forward HR straps, and the ANT+ and BLE standards are well established for live HR data, there is no standard for this store-and-forward functionality. So unfortunately this means you can only download stored HR data to that company's own branded watch. So the F5 will download data from an HRM-TRI, but not from a H10.

The only way I see is to import the training session from H10 to polar beat sw then expost the session in .gpx and import the gpx file in connect

mcalista, I do not want to download Polar's HR data to the watch, only to be able to see it in GCM together with other data (from Fenix 5S) obtained during that activity.
Ma73ko, thanks, this is what I had in mind but have no experience with. Will give it a go over the weekend.
  • lk130 I understand what you are trying to do but just not sure I understand why unless this is for a swimming workout

There may be elements negatively influencing the connection between the 2 devices during my workout. Hance, I am looking for a possibility to combine independent readings from 2 different devices in one platform (GCM).
Also, it may very well be swimming workouts, too.
  • As you cannot easily download the data LATER from a Polar H10 into the F5, you need to ensure that the H10 is paired and transmitting data to the F5 on a LIVE basis over BLE DURING the workout. I don't have an H10, so I can't tell you whether the H10 will store the data at the same time as it is transmitting over BLE to the F5, so that you can download it into the Polar system later.

I am still really unclear as to why you would want to do this.
