Fenix 5 burns

I have been using Fenix 5 HR for more than 6 months. I can now see a burn mark at the HR area. Previously I ignored the burn thinking of it as a temporary rash but my skin is numb under and no improvement even after removing the device for a week.
Anyone else facing the same problem? It is a serious issue in my view and really concerned if there are any other effects as well which may not be currently visible.

i contacted Garmin about t with pics but they seem to be completely dismissive about the issue.
  • It's not a burn, but it will be skin irritation.
If it hasn't gone away after a week then you really should go see your doctor or a dermatologist. If you're really sure it is a burn they will also be able to confirm it.

Lots of people assume because the rash often appears under the optical sensor that it must be a burn, but as some smarter people than I will explain that green LEDs do not produce the type of radiation required to "burn" skin.

I wear my watch almost 24/7, but I do make a point of taking it off while showering, and washing and drying the watch and band thoroughly before putting it back on. I exercise almost every day and I sweat a lot so if I didn't clean it constantly I would end up with a major rash.
I also have a number of different silicone straps (both genuine Garmin and rubbish cheap ones) plus a genuine leather and metal straps. I like to rotate through the silicone ones while exercising and I will sometimes wear the leather one just to let my skin have a bit of a break.

I might seem like overkill - but you wouldn't want to wear the same pair of socks or underwear every time you exercised and not expect to suffer would you?

Unless you are prone to allergies, just maintain a good level of personal hygiene.
When I started wearing my 5S with original silicone band during sleep, after a week (without any sporting) the outside of the wrist had developed a rash/dry patch area. I do wear it tightly fitted. As soon as I treated the area a few times with some regular ointment used for such skin coditions AND started giving the watcha simple but thorough rinse with warm water and regular soap each morning and each evening the skin went back to normal and has remained so.

I can only confirm what others are writing here: the irritation is almost certainly the consequence of accumulation of sweat, bacteria or dirt which is normal particularly if it is a watch that is used for exercise. I started cleaning my tracker twice a day (morning, evening) plus after every intensive exercise (just a rinse with water and drying with lint-free material), leave it to air out and give my skin a break and I have had no issues wearing it basically 24/7 for close to 6 months now. I would be careful about using any kind of soap or cleaning product though (unless it is absolutely necessary) with a piece of electronic equipment. Lastly: make sure the contacts for the USB cable are 100% dry before connecting to charge or sync.
