Alpine ski: bug on "elapsed time"

I used the fenix 5x through different firmware version (now the 8.0) for the last months recording approx. 20 log files related to alpine ski.
my understanding is that the "Elapsed time" should be the time elapsed ( uphill, downhill) from the moment I started the timer to the moment I finally save the log.

Well after several tests it is a matter of fact that the elapsed time is significantly shorter than the effective time spent during the session ( I mean on 3 hrs effective session I can find that elapsed time is almost 1 hour less !!).
Today during the session I sat on the liftchair watching the fenix and suddenly the elapsed time changed from 2h13' to 1h58' without any reason???!!!!

has anyone else foud this kind of issues?

Garming Team please have a look........this is falsing all the collected data !!!

thanks
  • Hm, I haven't noticed, but I checked my ski runs, and you are right. I wonder if pauses and lift time is treated differently when counting elapsed time. I would assume that elapsed time = active time + pause time + lift time, but perhaps I am wrong?

I have an account at trainingpeaks.com where all my activities are automatically imported from Garmin Connect. When I look at an activity at trainingpeaks.com, the graphs show actual time on the horizontal axis, including pauses (where there is no data on the graph).

So if I look at an activity at trainingpeaks.com, the duration of the activity shown in the graphs should be equal to the Elapsed Time from Garmin Connect, but it isn't. I have a skiing activity where Elapsed Time is 2:54 hours, but the trainingpeaks graph has data for 3:30 hours including pauses. And another skiing activity where the numbers are 3:00 hours / 3:06 hours.

These were my only two skiing activities with the Auto Run feature enabled. I found that Auto Run gave me far too low calorie count and hrTSS because all the pauses - which I use to catch my breath - were excluded from the logged data.
  • I have been trying for three days to get the ski activity to work. It stops after a few seconds each time. I tried Snowboarding with same result. The longest it recorded was 72 seconds. Auto-run was on, so I’m not sure what is going on. On 8.00. Hadn’t used it on prev FW.

  • Not to hijack this tread, but I had the exact same problem as MarkB905 this weekend. The watch stops recording after a few seconds....
  • today I did another session............same story: I skied for 3 hrs without stopping the watch and with the auto-run set on ON.......... the elapsed time indicated 2h.30"
This need to be fixed , thanks
