Twice in the past couple weeks my 5x started displaying the wrong time. First time it was hours off. Today it was 11 minutes slow. A power cycle corrects it. FW version 7.60. Synced to an Android phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what might cause it? I'm using the built-in digital watch face.
Thanks for the responses and link to the other thread. So I'm not the only one. I had done an activity with GPS yesterday morning and it was off 11 minutes in the afternoon. I've had this 5x more than a year, and don't recall the time going wrong until recently, so maybe that means it's firmware rather than hardware, and can be fixed. It sort of goes without saying that I'd like a watch to tell time.
Tangmu, from what I read, the discussion in the provided thread is only slightly related to your issue. Without quartz oscillators, these watches are not particularly accurate without occasional adjustment (GPS) - this has always been the case (they are not rated as chronometers and it is true that they are not as accurate as some basic quartz watches). However, they should be "accurate enough" for general use (naturally different people will have a different opinion on what this means).
However what you are seeing is not normal and I suggest you contact support (who will ask you to do a master reset). Most people see a change of only a few seconds a day at most. Although this could be firmware, I have not seen a bunch of people complaining (certainly not to the degree of issue you are seeing). You might also consider if you have added any watch faces or such that might eat up processing time - have you also tried a basic on/off or reset? Regardless, 11 minutes in less than a day is not normal.
Even if the whole thread I pointed to is just slightly related, my story described in that thread is just the same phenomenon: sudden and huge time discrepancy.
Happened again this morning. I know it was correct at 7:10 am. Then a few minutes before 9:00am it was showing 8:01 am. I didn't do anything during that time. I'll talk to Garmin, as suggested above, or maybe just do a full reset.
