[fw 7.60] Network Error. Try Again Later

since the update to 7.60 I cannot anymore sync via wifi
my home router/access-point configuration hasn't changed
I can search for a wifi network and properly config it from the Fenix itself and it seems to work(=connect), but when I try to sync I get the "Network Error. Try Again Later." message.
Of course I tryed to:
_restart the router (because of dhcp issues reported from other users)
_reboot the fenix
_delete and reconfigure the network both from the Fenix and from Garmin Express

nothing helped

note: My Fenix 5x worked with my home network since I bought it on september with no issue at all. I haven't changed my router/access-point config since 12 months, my latest network devices firmware update was just after the "spectre bug" had come clear)

[PARTIAL WORKAROUND] I restored the device to factory defaults, reconfigured (garmin account, wifi settings) then I was able to sync, but JUST ONCE, now I'm back to the "Network Error. Try Again Later." error message

[what I'm going to try next] My guess is: there is something up in the cloud backup of the configuration, so even if I restore to factory my Fenix, it gests this corrupted config file back a the 1st sync
So I will try to delete the device from my account before I restore it to factory defaults
  • Despite trying all of the above, I still can't get my device to transfer over WiFi.. Don't think its ever worked for me
  • Das Problem liegt eindeutig in oder an der Datei Garmin Device .xml! Der Support ist leider nicht fähig eine Lösung anzubieten! Bei einer 600 Euro Uhr ein Desaster!

My fenix 5X does not sync over WIFI either. I also use Windows phone (950XL). I tried the above steps, deleting WIFI folder, etc. No luck.
Follow up question, assuming the WIFI connection did work, can the fenix 5X "sync with BaseCamp" i.e. download tracks and routes from PC to fenix over WIFI? I think not, but that would be cool.
  • Similar issue with a new Fenix 5X. I had both wifi set up in my house and phone connectivity with Lumia Icon. All with W10. Both functioned yesterday. After using the phone I normally disable bluetooth on the phone and then disable the phone connection on the watch control panel. When I pressed the sync button on the watch control panel it would sync/transfer through my wifi. It functioned like this early this morning. Later was at the beach and did a sync to my phone and GC successfully. Disabled bluetooth on the phone and disabled on the watch and came home. Tried to sync/transfer over wifi and no luck. I plugged in the watch to my computer, loaded GE and noted I was connected and my wifi was listed. I unplugged the watch and attempted to sync over wifi and still no good. Plugged in again and in Garmin Express removed the watch. Shut down GE and reloaded GE. Added the Fenix 5X back and also my wifi network. Unplugged the watch and tested sync again with success. So the upshot seems to be Wifi works well if you don't change and use your phone. Seemed to be able to switch yesterday but today it's causing network connection errors, so will try and stick with one method, such as my phone for now. At least plugging in the watch to pc, removing it and re-adding back fixes the issue with wifi.
  • Achtung! Im Connect Shop gibt es inkompatible Apps (Wind&Waves) die das Wlan der Fenix lahmlegen! Deinstallieren, dann funktioniert auch die Wlan Verbindung wieder!

Translation for the OP: In the Connect shop there are incompatible apps (wind & Waves) which paralyze the WLAN of the Fenix! Uninstall, then the WLAN connection will work again!
  • fenix 5X Plus (Software: 5.10.0.0) - aktuelle Firmware
Jeglicher weitere upload mündet in "network error 500" ....
Das "Problem" oder den Fehler habe ich schon mehrmals an den Garmin Support gemeldet.
  • @HohenJoe das ist 5x forum hier, nicht 5x plus. and forum language is English, German is not spoken much here.
