Well, I figured it out. On my iPhone, under Notifications—>Messages, I had the toggle for “show in history” turned off. Reason why is because there is a strange bug on iOS 11 where text messages will disappear from the lock screen if “show in history” is turned on (yes I know, it doesn’t make any sense). Since this was turned off, the notification wasn’t accessible by the Fenix. As soon as I flipped the toggle on, my watch got the text notifications. So basically, I have to figure out which device I would rather receive the notifications on (more or less)...slightly frustrating.

ios13 has some weird tweets. But this fixed it completely for me!
I have tried all of this with my Android and it is still not showing any notifications
So I figured out my issue. I had to allow notifications in every aspect for the Fenix 5. Lock screen, Notification Center, banners and show previews. Not sure how android works but activate EVERY NOTIFICATION TYPE
Alright I finally figures it out. I have a Samsung S20. Go to your Garmin app and click the three lines on the upper portion of the screen. go to "settings" now click "notifications". Now click "app notifications". Make sure you have the Garmin apps turn on as well as your messaging apps. This will fix it!
This worked for me instantly. I was really frustrated at first, but works just fine now.
