No training status

Just recently got back into an exercise routine over the past few weeks, mostly consisting of gym work. Last week I had a training status. This week I have no status, despite it noting an increase in load. I went for a short run today and then two hours walking, and still no status.

Is it really just running that it calculates a training status from? How much running do I have to do before it picks it up?

I've also noticed on some machines at the gym it doesn't pick up my heart rate properly. For example, I'll be using the stair machine and my breathing will pick up and heart rate will feel like 140-150, but the watch would display 70-80 for the duration and then only change when I stop exercising and suddenly spike.

Are you wearing a heart rate strap or using the wrist-based HR when you're using the machines? I sometimes have a problem with the HR on the wrist not picking up correctly if my wrist is bent. Regarding the training status, I think it is only running that activates that. And I think it needs activities that trigger VO2 Max measurement so running would do it but not walking. I think it needs like two weeks of running or so.
