Rep Counting

I am doing mostly TRX and elastic band work as strength training and am seeing that the device is very bad at counting reps. I am curious as to does rep counting only work for the set of exercises built into the device or does it not work well at all? Also is there a description anywhere of how garmin defines what some of the exercises are so that I can pick ones that are closer to the TRX work so that perhaps I can get it to be more accurate.

  • It's only been 2 months since I started going to a gym again and first time ever I've cared about reps. For me, the rower (Concept 2) is perfect. I get the exact same rep rate as the rower. Not so great for things like bench press, but decent for lap pulldowns. I believe since it depends on the accelerometer, those exercises that have a significant change in direction will trigger the rep. I guess since I don't really care if my F5 counts my reps, it's a non issue for me.
