Hi all I was trying to use round trip course for running and it works out the course fine but I don’t get any turn notifications when coming up to a turn like I do on navigation to a saved location is this normal ?

Also if I miss a turn it doesn’t recalculate like it does on navigation is this normal ?

I am finding it very hard to follow

Any taught’s or help would be great

Thanks

Check your routing settings. Is one set for "follow course" and another set for "use map"? Use Map is the only way to get turn by turn that I know of.

Activity settings > routing > courses > follow course/use map

I changed all settings to use map but this doesn’t seem to have made any difference I must be still doing something wrong.

Which maps are you using , is it routable

    Ok I have these on

    Worldwide DEM Basemap,me

    Topoactivec Europe v4 West

TT50 British isle this one I don’t think is routable do you think I need to turn this one off ?

    Thanks mick

  • I would disable them all and just try one map , I’m pretty sure the talkytoaster map is routable, failing this give the garmin cycling map a go as that is definitely routable.

Mickk I have the Fenix 5x with version 7.60 firmware. I am using maps Aus/NZ topo lite (which isn't routable) and the Garmin Aus/NZ cycle map (which is routable)

I tried the 'round trip course' in a running activity for the first time just now. Wasn't aware of it before, (there are so many features to test out on this watch!)
It took a considerable time ( a few minutes) to calculate 3 random-ish routes for a 20 km distance and (eventually) showed each of them on the map, waiting for me to select one by pressing the 'start' button.
Then by selecting 'go', it gave me an arrow on the map to the first turn, so it is definitely using turn-by-turn method. Also if I select 'turn-by-turn' rather than 'go' it gives a scrollable list of turns in text.
As I 'started' the route and followed it, it gave me turn indicators on the map and 'buzzed' when they were coming up.
If I decided to deviate from the suggested route, it would at first NOT recalculate the route but it did give indicators about how to get back to it. If I really persist with staying off course it does eventually change the course, small changes at first to get me back on-track but I found that if I went far enough off-course it would abandon the original course and give me a new one to get home.
