  • The Torx screws are pretty soft and I suspect you'll pick up more signs of wear on them as time goes on. That said, i think you have nothing to worry about here.

What can be seen breaking up on the picture, is a gasket placed between the torx screw head, and the watch case lug. There is one gasket on one of the sides for each of the two lug pins. I have no idea why, but have concluded that it is placed there in a try to keep the pin fixed towards the case. I lost one of the gaskets just a couple of months after getting my F5. The other one is still in place, but have developed cracks like seen in the picture. If you look at pictures of the leather strap for the F3, including pins, you will see that there are a gasket placed at one end of the pin on the inside of the torx screw for those as well (but not for the rubber straps).

Garmin have obviously made a poor choice of material, since gaskets are widely used in watches for water proofing, and should not fracture like this.

From a functionality perspective I have not noted any extra wear or tear on my watch, where the gasket have been missing for some 8 months now. I use my F5 24/7.
  • I have the same. Is it covered by guarantee/ can you get replacements?
