Yes, this is another post about this bug. It seems to be quite common, and the common answers don't seem to help me.
The common answers being:
1 - Make sure locations are turned on on the phone
2 - Try getting the GPS active on the watch
Neither of these things appear to work, neither has restarting the phone and watch and reinstalling the app.
Observations I have made though include:
1 - When the app is installed, after several seconds I get a "Network connection error" in Garmin Connect on my phone. I'm wondering if this is the cause, where for somre reason the initial data download fails, and so the watch continuously waits for the data that never comes.
2 - Is it possible that New Zealand is just not covered by Garmins weather? I've tried using the Accuweather app, and that tells me that the weather cannot be obtained for my location. If Garmin gets its weather data from accuweather, it stands to reason that the Garmin weather app also won't work.
3- Could it be that the app only gets the data over wifi or similar?
I figured that it might be useful to collect information from other people who have the same bug, to see if there's any kind of link for the above. Phone, watch, and location.
Phone is an iPhone 7 with up to date iOS
Garmin Fenix 5 (non-Sapphire)
North Island of New Zealand.
Watch and phone are paired perfectly with no connection issues. All other apps talk well and download data perfectly.
