Happy New Year!
Well, my watch display is completely messed up after downloading a short course from Basecamp. I noticed that the second hand froze after the download and had to force power off - light button pressed for 25 seconds. Unfortunately, the watch is now unusable because the display appears as random pixels. The watch seems to be working, the back-light comes on and I can power down through the control menu. I have used Basecamp before without issues, but this is the first time with FW 7.10.
I can't imagine that writing to the file system could kill the watch. There should exist some fail safe mechanisms before overwriting internal memory. I am trying to roll back the firmware to see if that will reload the display driver (I remember seeing this somewhere), if there is such a module.
However, after placing an older GUPDATE.GCD file into the GARMIN directory and restarting the watch, I can't seem to input the correct sequence to begin the update since I am unable to see the screen contents. Can someone verify the key sequence to begin the update? If I remember correctly, you need to press the down button once then start. Any other ideas to force a complete firmware update? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
