After a couple of years with the 235 (still using it) I’ve just bought the 5X. Considering what I paid for the 235 (£279) - this is a bargain at £560. Quality of build, the improvements and what it does - very impressed. So far no issues with updating to latest FW, HR monitor so much better than the 235 plus the in depth tracking and analysis ..... and then navigation on my wrist. Gonna try and get lost in the Scottish Highlands tomorrow (New Year’s Day Hike) - Garmin have done well with this latest development - occasional glitches but is there anything else that can do what this does? - and then there’s the battery life - so you can have cake and eat it .....
Can’t fault it - hiked from Newtonmore to Kingussie and back up and over the rocky snowy bits and the navigation was spot on. Very infrequently trodden paths were easily followed by the uploaded course and a 4 hour activity using Navigation and activity tracking on GPS + Glonass (not ultratrac) used 30% of battery. It isn’t perfect but it’s pretty damn good.
Hello, it's good to hear from a new user of the 5X as I picked one up over Christmas for £535 but I haven't collected it yet. I'm still wondering whether I should go ahead and get on with it. I saw on ActiveJR YouTube channel that a Fenix 6 might be coming out at some point...I'm just wondering whether to bite the bullet with the 5X or wait for the new model - whenever it comes out...

ive wondered this as well (although i havent got a far as you by ordering one), from what ive read on other posts people seem to think that there wont be an updated model till early next year based on previous releases - again i dont want to be spending this amount of money now for a new model to arrive in say 6 months time :/
