Have you tried BirdsEye + Fenix 5x?

Hi,
I've downloaded 2gs of birdseye highest rez satalite imagery to the Fenix 5x.( you may try a lower rez and get better results?)
I never use the imagery for navigation as the map screen can freeze at any time during an activity,even slow hiking.My friend also has the exact same results with his 5x,we have to perform a soft reset of the watch to get the map working again. so i would never recommend it for navigation on the Fenix 5x.
Someone in the garmin tech team told me its not officially supported and offered me a refund but i like to use the imagery for the basic "map" app and basecamp.
Of course this is just my personal experience,
I have had succsessful hikes in the past with the 5x using the imagery ,but will never chance it again.
Also when in large forestry i find it much harder to read the map even with my chosen overlays.
I find it better to just use a combination of overlayed downloaded or standard maps for the new area chosen.
As i said though it is great on the "map " app, to just look around and view.

I was so surprised... I've never seen such problems for Epix. Hm.. may be it was because of high resolution images. Have you tried low resolution images?

Yes you may be right, downloading the lower rez imagery should work better,but i don't know how useful the lower imagery will be on the screen?
I might have a look myself to see it it works better for me.
I had to fight to keep my subscription for the 5x over the phone as the tech rep spouted advice that the 5x is not compatable with birdseye,and rather than help me activate the subscription (i was having problems)
he (after putting me on hold and seeking advise) told me to except a refund,I refused and kept my subscripion. :-).....but it turns out the tech rep was right to a degree,at least with my and my friends watches.

Never had a problem with the Birdseye maps, I also overlay the talkytoaster maps on top of them for more detail, here one of my video showing how the maps look

Have you tried to use Satelite images (BirdsEye) for Garmin Fenix 5x?

I uploaded some Birdseye tiles along with a few maps using Basecamp, but then experienced an endless crash and reboot loop that meant had to send the watch in (although it was probably the maps that killed it) Garmin support was surprised that i had managed to upload the imagery to the watch and told me that Birdseye are not supported on the watch.

Whilst anyone can download birdseye imagery to the watch,( Garmin allows it of course!!) Ìt isn't officially supported,I've never seen any adverts from Garmin showing that Birdseye would be a feature?
My advice would be to phone Garmin up for your own clarification.

My new factory-made the watch had a Garmin/BirdsEye folder, so I am using JNX files: -)
I have a BirdsEye licence, but I am not using satellite photographs. I am using raster JNX maps.
At present - for raster maps - the BirdsEye licence isn't needed. It is necessary to adapt firmware. ( http://whiter.brinkster.net/en/Versions.shtml )

is it possible to have a look at Birds Eye resolution level before purchase? I'm not sure about my region for a satellite snapshot quality :-(
