Hi - newbie here! I just purchased a Fenix 5S and want to use it during crossfit/interval training workouts but don't want to log specifics during a workout. All the apps I've seen want you to log everything. Which activity or app should I use so I can start at the beginning of the workout and stop at the end? thanks!
  • Hey Justin,

I use Garmin Connect to track my CrossFit workouts as well, but mostly just put in the total reps for each movement afterwards. For example, our WOD today consisted of 10 rounds of 4 different exercises. If the workout was not Strength, I will switch it to that specific workout type. Once uploaded to Connect, I went in an added the specific exercises I did and put the total reps. Here is this morning

At least this way, I'm keeping track of my exercise movements with reps and weight. Garmin has a simple reporting for strength training now that shows reps and weight. It's interesting to see the total weight in volume. Not sure what I would actually do with the data, but it's there. :)
  • One thing I wish Garmin would release is something similar to the Polar H10. You can save one workout directly to the HRM without having to use a watch. That way I can still get heart rate data if I need to wear wrist wraps and such, and where a watch would get in the way.

I know you can store workouts with HRM-Tri and sync to a compatible watch afterwards, but that's a pretty expensive option compared to just an HRM strap that does it by itself. Wahoo Tickr X has a similar feature, but I found that the Tickr always gave me incredibly high calorie burn, even with correct data and calibration.
