Fenix 5X - 7.54 Public Beta

Hello Fenix 5X users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Fenix 5X: http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...s.jsp?id=11665

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

7.54 Change Log Notes:
• Added the ability to access 'Broadcast Heart Rate' from the Controls menu (Settings > Controls) as well as through the system Hot keys (Settings > System > Hot Keys).
• Improved the smart notification text layout for longer messages.
• Improved manual weight entry for Rep Counting. When entering the weight for a set, the default value will be the weight entered for the previous set instead of 0.
• Improved the VO2 Max gauge in the Performance widget so that the arrow indicator is more accurate.
• Improved syncing of user settings and statistics between the device and Garmin Connect. Addresses issues like alarms being changed unexpectedly.
• Fixed an issue causing the Lactate Threshold page in the Performance widget to not show if an auto-detected BPM value is the same as one that was manually entered.
• Fixed an issue where the entered angle field would change its contents to a bad value within Jumpmaster.
• Fixed an issue where the scrollbar would disappear momentarily when adding a chart page (for example altimeter) to the activity data field page loop.
• Fixed an issue where the data field 'Gear Battery' showed no value on the Varia Vision.
• Fixed an issue where laps were not being recorded correctly while performing a lactate threshold test.

Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 series you have in the subject line.

Please note that the public beta's are intended for non-APAC devices only.
• I tried the alarms again: I deleted all alarms on the watch, web, and app, then synced.
Then I created an alarm on the app and synced, and the alarm appeared on the watch and web page. So far, so good
Then on the watch I modified the alarm's active days, but no amount of syncing would get the app or the web page to
update their settings for the alarm.

Then I created a second alarm on the app and synced, and this second alarm appeared on the watch (but the first alarm
was still not properly synchronized).
But then I deleted this second alarm from the app and synced, but the watch still had two alarms.
Finally, I deleted all alarms from the app and synced. The web page showed no alarms, but the watch still has two alarms.

Can we have an option to turn off the written navigation directions in navigation mode? The switching between map and written navigation is very annoying when driving high speed on a bike.
• A bit more detail on the alarm syncing:
If I create an alarm on the app or web page, it gets synced to the watch.
If I then modify the alarm time on the watch, it gets synced back to the app and web page.
But if I then modify the repeat days on the watch, that change won't get synced back to the web page or app.
And after doing that, if I modify the alarm time on the watch, it won't sync back, either.

So it seems the modifying the individual active days on the watch gets the sync process confused.
• Good work doing the updates and improving the device. Couple of observations after the update.
1. The save location control was duplicated. deleting both and then adding back resolved this
2. After a trail run using a HRM-TRI there was a gap in the heart rate widget display whilst the strap was capturing data. This used to be continuous on previous releases ie merged set of data on the widget
3. TBC. One of my data fields seems to have reversed itself. I had a 2 field one with heart rate above cadence. Post the update it was cadence above heart rate.
• I received an OTA update to WifI 2.40 this morning. I wonder what it contains.
• Latest Wifi code I reckon. If you had no issues with Wifi then you won’t see any difference.
• Update on and alls good.

Still not sure if I have an APAC device or not, how do you tell?
• Bug in run app:

When following a workout in running mode, the workout phase description at the start of every phase shows a “0 kg” under the description (this is for when the phase has a time duration and no performance target i.e. no pace, HR, or speed target).
• Bug in pool swim app:

Three bugs here:

????Bug 1: The pool swim workout is scheduled in the calendar, and both the calendar and workouts are sync’d with the watch. Usually when a workout is preloaded in this way just selecting the activity (start -> run, for example) would show “Today: <workout name>” with the options of “do workout”, “view”, or “skip”. This does not happen with a pool swim.

????Bug 2: when doing a pool swim in a phase with a drill (and there is the subtext press lap to end drill), no other keys work. It is not possible to view the phase notes, or workout values (like total distance swum)—up and down keys do not respond. Just lap.

????Bug 3: when the workout ends on a “ Rest - Lap Button Press” phase the lap key does not respond. Just the “start/stop” key.
• intensity minutes seems to be broken with this beta.
made 3 trainings with over 120 bpm and 30 minutes.
my old fenix3hr works as expected.
