Fenix 5S + Iphone - no text message notifications

Hi,

Newbie here so I apologize if this is not the correct forum. Note I also did a search and read the manual could not find a solution.

Received Garmin Fenix 5S on 12/17. It is currently paired with Iphone 6

I am able to get phone calls, just not text message notification (from standard SMS/Iphone Messenger app).
My phone is paired, bluetooth on, notifications are set to Show All both during and not during activities.

Anywhere else I can look or that I have missed?

After unsuccessful (though very nice) Garmin support chat and 2 days of trouble shooting, I finally figured out the issue.

For ios 11, in Notifications->Messages-> the setting "Show in History" must be set to 'ON'. This is in addition to the 'Allow Notifications' being 'ON' (which I already had). btw, Show on Lock screen, Preview and Banners, Badge App Icon and everything else can be set to OFF if desired.

For ios 10, it is "Show in Notification Center" must be set to ON

I thought if anyone else came across this, it would save some time.
