7.54 Change Log Notes:

Added the ability to access 'Broadcast Heart Rate' from the Controls menu (Settings > Controls) as well as through the system Hot keys (Settings > System > Hot Keys).
Improved the smart notification text layout for longer messages.
Improved manual weight entry for Rep Counting. When entering the weight for a set, the default value will be the weight entered for the previous set instead of 0.
Improved the VO2 Max gauge in the Performance widget so that the arrow indicator is more accurate.
Improved syncing of user settings and statistics between the device and Garmin Connect. Addresses issues like alarms being changed unexpectedly.
Fixed an issue causing the Lactate Threshold page in the Performance widget to not show if an auto-detected BPM value is the same as one that was manually entered.
Fixed an issue where the entered angle field would change its contents to a bad value within Jumpmaster.
Fixed an issue where the scrollbar would disappear momentarily when adding a chart page (for example altimeter) to the activity data field page loop.
Fixed an issue where the data field 'Gear Battery' showed no value on the Varia Vision.
Fixed an issue where laps were not being recorded correctly while performing a lactate threshold test.

It would be quite nice with an explanation about how the alarms and connect suppose to work.

Hi marrr ,

If you were to make a settings change on one platform (Watch, Garmin Connect Mobile, or Garmin Connect Web), then that change should be reflected on all platforms instantaneously.

broadcast HR from controls doesn't seem to work

the display looks like it's broadcasting but nothing is received (manually setting this or broadcast from an app still works OK)

I've emailed Garmin about this

If you were to make a settings change on one platform (Watch, Garmin Connect Mobile, or Garmin Connect Web), then that change should be reflected on all platforms instantaneously.

Sad to say, but that dont work.
If i change on the clock, it never shows up in connect. If i add one alarm in connect, it deletes all the alarms on the clock and adds just the one.
It never syncs from clock to connect.

I always had to disable the phone connection on the watch in order to set an alarm for the morning otherwise it would get erased mid-night and I will run late. Once I get up, I would enable the phone connection again and at some point during the day that alarm would be gone.
After upgrading to 7.54 that alarm actually appeared at GCM (meaning, it went from the clock to GCM) so that part of the equation works. What I do not know now is what happens with the configuration that cannot be done in GCM for alarms (label, backlight configuration).
I am guessing marrr that what went wrong with you is that the watch did not sync to GC before you added that second alarm in GC. That sync is probably basic to the point that it might detect a change in ONE platform (your watch) and sync that to the other two (GC/GCM) but will fail if a change is done in TWO platforms and get everything overwritten by what is configured in one of those?

For those still having issues with the alarms sync, this post from odsweng on the 5X 7.54 beta thread may help:

Please delete all alarms from the 3 platforms (watch, Garmin Connect Mobile, and Garmin Connect web). Once all have been removed, try re-adding an alarm on any one of those platforms and let us know if the alarm you created shows up properly at all 3 locations.

Tried some more things with alarms.

It was possible to make an alarm on clock and sync to gc after deleting everything.
But then i wasnt able to delete it on the clock from gc. So its not flawless yet, and i dont know if i can trust it yet :) but it is steps in the right way.

Has the broadcasting heart rate issue been addressed?
or have they added a feature for something that hasn’t worked for over 6 months for some users.

This is definitely not the case... alarms created on the watch will never appear on GC, no matter how many times you sync.

Alarms created in GCM or the web seam to get transferred to the watch ok, but every now and then things get corrupted.
