Wifi sync not working - seems to crash wifi

Since mid November I have been having issues with Wifi sync, which was the primary way I have used my Fenix 5x. For the last 5+ months everything has worked great, and I have not made any changes to my wifi equipment at home. I also tried on a different router/access point at work with similar results.

When I start a wifi sync it finds the network, says transferring for a bit and then says transfer failed. If I try again it immediately goes to "Connection Failed. Try Again". It stays this way until I power off/on and then it is back to the initial behavior.

Transfers work fine via Bluetooth and cable.

If I delete the network, it will allow me to list available networks and rejoin one ( if I have not had a failed sync ) - if it is in the "Connection Failed. Try Again" state it does not see any networks.

I have been working ( slowly ) with Garmin support over the last few weeks, exchanging emails every few days. The delay is on their part as I usually respond within two hours.

So far I have:
Removed all activities
reloaded the OS using WebUpdater
reset the device to factory defaults
sent them the log files from the device
updated the OS to the just released 7.0

None of these have had any impact on my issue.

Has anyone experienced this before? Did you find a solution?

Thanks!
  • looks like fw11.56 broke my WiFi connectivity
I previously had the issue of error when syncing via WiFi, but right now my Fenix cannot even detect the wifi networks when I try to add them new (directly from the swatch interface)

Can I revert back only the wifi o do I have to revert all of the firmware to 11.00 ?

    EDIT
looks like the WiFi connectivity works just ONCE after a reboot. I can add 1 network, and he does a sync, but then I cannot sync anymore nor the watch can find any networks at all.

    UPDATE_1
I contacted the Garmin assistnace, got a precure to downgrade e wipe clean the watch (even uninstall/reinstall the express sosftware e clean temp data on pc)
    But it did not work

    UPDATE_2
the watch has ben sent to Garmin assistance and replaced
A new one (with a different serial number) is on the way to me

IamDaveSa I am currently experiencing the exact same problem with wifi connectivity on my fenix 5s. After a software update to 12.40. Although i have not done a full restore it sounds like that will not fix the issue (judging by your experience). I might take it back to where i purchased hoping i can get a replacement unit as It is still under warranty . Thanks!
