Yet again intensity minutes not being recorded

After a hard reset three weeks ago intensity minutes were once again recording and I was able to sync to garmin connect mobile. While I can sync to garmin connect mobile the intensity minutes are no longer recording, it seems the more things change the worse it gets.
  • As of today, my intensity minutes have dropped significantly. I ride my bike to work every day. I get credited 140 minutes for this (70 minutes of intense training x2). Today i got credited 15 minutes on the way to my work and only 40 on my way back. What's happening here? Its the same commute everyday, and allthough I might be getting fitter, I checked my HR regularly and it was consistently over 140 BPM, so for my age thats intense... I do not record these trips as activities and I always got my minutes until today...

Also: for the past weeks my intensity minutes do not register while i am in an activity (for example bycicling or running)... what's up with that?

Is this due to an update? Does anyone else experience a sudden drop in accredited minutes?
  • On today's morning 5k run I noticed that the first 10 minutes wasn't counted at all.
The intensity minutes started to count after 10 minutes (as it has been on other Garmin devices) but the first 10 wasn't included.
I had an average of 84% MAX HR during 27 minutes.

My F5 is running s/w 8.00 and I use the TRI HR strap.
  • Vernersson - can't say conclusively - but I heard Intensity minutes don't get calculated until you have done 10 mins of exercise. So maybe that is the issue

    Yes I know.
It takes 10 minutes for it to be accumulated but this first 10 minutes should be included in the total as long as the intensity minutes criteria are met.
In this case it started to count after the first 10 minutes. (hard to explain since english isn't my first language)

Attached a zoom of the first 12 minutes of todays run.
After 30sec my HR was up to 118bpm and that's in the ball park where the system should begin to count intensity minutes.
    But it doesn't.
  • Vernersson You need to have ten minutes of elevated heart rate before Intensity Minutes will start to work.

Here is a useful resource for you to get more information on Intensity Minutes.

Thanks but I already know that.

But since we are on this subject.
If I take a 30 min run where the HR is within the parameters of high and or moderate HR, should the FIRST 10 minutes be counted as well?
The run I took this morning did not count the first 10 even though they did meet the criteria.

Yes, you can access my GC Account, contact me on my registered e-mail address if necessary.

However, I think that the issue is solved.
Yesterday I updated to beta s/w 9.0.2 and on today's morning run (35 minutes) I actually got intensity minutes from the start. 35min on vigorous intensity = 70 minutes.
The first 10 minutes was also counted.
    s/w 8.00 might have a bug?

Good to hear, keep testing it and if anything changes let us know.

I've done 4 rides commuting too and from work Wednesday and Thursday this week, using my Garmin Edge 1000 with BT HRM andConnect has not counted any of it. 44 miles, 2 rides at 1/2 and hour and 2 rides at just under an hour each. Each ride was a proper effort, so not like I've coasted downhill on the journeys.

This morning I go for a run using my Fenix 3 and its been logged straight off, no issues.

@ Garmin Heath - What is the issue? The Edge 1000 is collecting and picking up the HRM and logging it into the Activity Session details on Connect?

    Thanks, Phil.
