Garmin: Please fix the Resting Heart Rate Algorithm for overnight heart rates

If you keep the optical heart rate on while wearing the watch overnight, the RHR will be unusually high (up to 80s) despite subsequent readings in the 40s. This needs to be fixed.
  • I have brought this up before to the dev team, and asked for a simple setting to only calculate RHR during waking hours. I've been told that it's being "considered".

BenBristol, do you have sleep and wake times as the same?

Yes. I actually prefer it taking the whole day regardless of whether I am asleep or awake - that way I get the absolute lowest RHR as my final stat
  • I got the same issue, we all got it, well except those fun boys that carry the master name, they are all trolls and their watch have no flaws.

I am neither a "fun boy" or "carry a master name" but I don't have this issue.

If you guys want to feel better saying that it works because you got a $500 watch that have many bugs good for you, keep telling that. But the truth is otherwise, heart rate is not working properly, cable is horrible or mass storage is bug, altimeter and barometer have bugs, watch faces keep resetting, the cycle map bug ( I believe that got fix after months). I like the watch but it has many bugs, the only way these dudes at garmin are gonna fix it is thru complaining about their horrible bugs. But dudes keep telling everything is working properly and keep happy with. $500 bug watch.

My understanding is that the only way complaints re bugs will be heard by Garmin is by reporting them directly through the Garmin Support system https://support.garmin.com

Correct me if I am wrong. Most manufacturers' forums are for users to interact with one another, not for users to interact with manufacturers directly.

same issue still happening in 7.0 Beta, it seems they will never fix this.

Just make your sleep time = wake time per my previous post and issue solved.

It is not “solved”. You found a workaround for your resting heart rate by screwing up the sleep function.
Many firmware updates later this is still an issue.
  • Actually, it was solved, because even if you entered this ‘screwed up’ time, the watch still recognised the correct sleep times.

However since then, Garmin updated the algorithms so this workaround no longer works!
