Fenix 5X - 6.83 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5X users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

The system, BLE/ANT/SNS, Display, and WiFi (if applicable) software have been updated in this beta. Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the link below.

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

6.83 Change Log Notes:

Improved Training Status and Training Load now updated with heart rate data that is stored on an HRM-Tri or HRM-swim and sent to the watch.
Improved Compass steadiness when still and responsiveness when moving.
Fixed an issue causing the backlight to remain on while on the charging page.
Fixed issue causing the Start/Stop and Lap keys to only clear notifications when they are displayed instead of also performing their general function (for example, starting the timer and recording a lap).
Fixed an issue preventing Work from being displayed on Varia Vision.
Fixed an issue preventing Lap HR % Max from being displayed on Varia Vision.
Fixed an issue causing the Best Power personal record to be displayed incorrectly.
Fixed an issue causing Wi-Fi Networks to be displayed in Garmin Connect Mobile for devices without Wi-Fi.
Added support for Connect IQ SDK 2.4.1.

Does this Beta update address the issue of the watch faces resetting as in 6.78B? Thanks for your work!

I still receive an Network Error when trying to sync via WLAN. Already on 6.78 there was no succesful sync at all. Any ideas?

Hi,
i updated to 6.83B and sync via WLAN works just fine.
2 things: did you see, that there is a SW update file for WIFI as well? and... i never made it work on a WIFI where the SSID is not broadcasted

btw. Watchfaces (in this case ActiFace) are almost as fast as with SW <6.78 - no info on battery drain so far (its charging at the moment)

It's getting frustrating!!!

Why does the Elliptical app (garmin default app) haves Elevation, Compass, Navigation fields and no cadence fields??? really? is that difficult to make it right?
I have been complaining about this issue since 6.71!

BEWARE This beta does NOT fix the issue of MyWatch watch face not working! Back to 6.00 and full wipe!

I have not had any problems with watch faces crashing on this firmware version. I used to get them at least once a day on 6.78 and I know that Garmin has made fixes specifically to address issues which would result in crashes with the symptoms I was seeing in previous firmware versions later than 6.0. I have been running updated firmware a little longer than has been available here.

gone from having my watchface reset to default settings randomly on 6.0 and earlier versions to now completely breaking after a few hours. When the watch face crashes or whatever it does, i get a default garmin face. the downloaded watch face will not work again until it is uninstalled and reinstalled. rebooting does not fix. using actiface. havent tried other CIQ faces yet but the resetting was a common issue on some others in the past until i settled on actiface and just put up with the annoying random resets.
