Random saved locations 400ft away.

Hi everyone,
I can't seem to save my location properly,
everytime i try, the marker flag will randomly generate up to 100s of feet away from where the the pointer (where u am)is displayed.
It seems to want to place the marker on a road or track,not where i am.
I have to zoom out to try to find where its been placed.
my track is good,the pointer is where i am.
Also it randomly crashes when i open the map once a day.(owned watch three days)
Also had to do a factory reset after a watchface was duplicated on my device.(advised by Garmin.)
Anyway I hope someone can help me.

Now i have a blank screen instead of a map?
map app blank
navigate app blank.
Restarted the watch and now maps are back.

Woke up this morning,
tried again to save a location and it saved as a boatramp icon everytime.
Restarted the watch and i am back to flags again?
The map pointer is not where i am, i'm about 20ft away on the map?

This seems to be the problem then:

I can't save a location in the correct place,as the map itself is about 20 to 40ft away from my real location.
If I'm walking down a front road,the pointer will be in the back gardens of the houses oppisite.
Should i reload my maps?

Just downloaded birdseye,
and the sat images are perfect with my location pointer over the image.
but the map overlay is 20ft off,and that's why my saved locations aren't where i am.
What to do lol?

But you have a gps fix before you try to save a location?

Yes while out hiking the GPS is green to go.

Im speaking to Garmin as im writing,
and its a known issue due to mapping....
will keep you informed. .....

Now I have to send Garmin my fit activity files to be studied.
Also they are not so sure its a known issue anymore after all.
Very confusing.

If the map and GPS are consistently 400 ft out, I am suspecting there may be an issue with the map datum (eg. WGS 84) of the underlying map, and that set in the position format on the watch settings.

Agreed. If it's constantly out by the same distance and in the same direction it'll be a map datum error.

Hi and thanks for your reply's.
Sat images are correct
map overlay is about 10ft off after watch master reset.(seems about right)
auto save location with long press light ,save location is random,(so is hotkey method)
the marker could be placed at my feet or probibly directed to a road nearby.
lf I'm on a trail save location will be at my feet or further up the trail in the direction im traveling like a waypoint ahead.(like feature of the watch?)
I have found a way around this problem,
while on map zoom mode i can save my location at my feet everytime perfect,just by long press start.(i dont have to scroll )
As for datum (ive no experience)but there are three options in the menu?
should i choose one?
